Internal Communications Manager
Primary description
You will be responsible for delivering our global Internal Communications strategy across the Stolt-Nielsen Group, ensuring messages are aligned across businesses and channels, to inform and engage employees and enhance the overall employee experience. This role
involves both strategic support and day-to-day delivery.
In this role, you will be the internal communications business partner and advisor for the Senior Leadership Team. This includes supporting our CEO to communicate his company vision to all employees and ensuring that the new phase of our strategy is effectively communicated and understood throughout the organisation.
The Internal Communications Manager will also be responsible for the communications of the wider leadership team, aligning these to business strategy with a focus on transparency, consistency and engagement. And you will partner with key business areas, including HR
and Finance, to help plan and deliver creative and impactful multi-channel communications programmes that improve employee engagement.
This role will report to the Head of Corporate Communications in London and works closely with colleagues in the Corporate Communications team, as well as our divisional offices worldwide.
You will need a positive, proactive approach, can-do attitude, strong business and creative writing skills, a good grasp of internal social channels and the ability to hit the ground running. Excellent project management skills and attention to detail are also a must. You will
also bring a sense of gravitas and professionalism to liaise with senior leaders of our business and gain their trust.
Key Responsibilities
Define the internal communications strategy for the group with the support of the Head of Corporate Communications.
Develop a communications plan for the group strategy and successfully deliver it.
Prepare and oversee content for all CEO and Senior Leadership Team communications to employees, including town hall meetings, written content, Yammer/Viva Engage and other channels used for engaging with our 2,000 onshore and 4,000 offshore colleagues.
Plan and deliver internal events such as conferences and town halls for the wider organisation.
Initiate ideas, develop concepts and deliver plans according to agreed schedules.
Manage the internal communications calendar to deliver the day-to-day internal communications requirements for the group.
Collaborate with Corporate Communications team colleagues to align messages and contribute to the forward-planning processes for group communications.
Qualifications & Experience
5+ years’ experience in internal communications at a global company.
A proven track record of delivering creative and innovative internal communications campaigns that engage employees and create a positive working environment.
Experience of working in a global organization with a large population of frontline workers
Specific Skills
Ability to work confidently and professionally with senior leaders, build credibility and rapport with demanding stakeholders and become a trusted advisor.
Experience of internal social media and collaboration platforms, specifically Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and Yammer/Viva Engage.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement.
Strong writing and editing skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently on multiple projects with competing priorities, without losing sight of the bigger picture.
Develops strong working relationships at all levels and across boundaries (geographical and functional) to maximise the impact of local communications.
Deals well with ambiguity and effectively articulates messages that may be sensitive, unclear or evolving.
A team player with a ‘can-do’, proactive approach to work and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
