As a specialist executive search and recruitment consultancy for in-house Communications and Investor Relations functions, our latest analysis using LinkedIn's Talent Insights Tool reveals evolving trends in the senior talent market across the UK and US markets. This month's analysis shows shifts from our December findings, highlighting key developments in talent distribution, diversity, and retention strategies.

Senior Communications & IR Talent Distribution and Demographics

The concentration of communications and IR talent continues to be centred around major financial, media, and business hubs, with some interesting month-over-month changes:

  • New York City Metropolitan Area has seen slight decline to 10,085 professionals (down from 10,102 in December), whilst maintaining its position as the global leader.

  • London has experienced modest growth to 8,194 professionals (up from 8,161), strengthening its position as Europe's primary hub.

  • Los Angeles (4,584), Washington DC-Baltimore (3,681), and San Francisco Bay Area (3,185) maintain their positions in the top five, each showing small but steady growth from December's figures.

Gender

Gender diversity continues to show positive momentum, with women now representing 61% of senior communications and IR roles (up 1% from December) compared to 39% held by men. This continued progression demonstrates the sector's commitment to diverse leadership and inclusive practices.

Career Longevity and Mobility

The median tenure has shifted slightly to 2.8 years (up from 2.7 years in December), suggesting a marginal increase in role stability. This small but notable change could indicate evolving retention strategies taking effect across the industry.
